Another hero.
That was a great insight from the other side
Thank you for your service. We need more of these interviews from the perspective of the other side of all conflicts.
Rob saw this video. I worked in 14th Aviation Battalion Operations Nov 70 - Oct 71
Thank you for this very informative yet dignified documentary. RIP to so many beautiful people. God Bless survivors, family, and friends. 🌸🌸🌸
I’ve seen this interview several times now, and it’s as interesting today as the first time I heard it. It’s criminal that we never got the German soldier’s perspective of WWII (especially, D-Day). I think there’s a lot we could learn from their perspective. So thoughtful of you to get this man’s perspective. The part where he said that Rommel guessed right, in that we’d land at Normandy was intriguing, given how much effort was put into trying to convince the Germans that we would land at Calais. I would love to have heard what he would’ve changed with the opening of Saving Private Ryan. Btw, I thought the interpreter did a fantastic job.
Christ! How much can a person endure....I love and respect you and wish you peace !!!!
Yep, not everybody who fought was SS/Nazi. Thanks for this man's story.
Glad you enjoyed it Allen. A very rare glimpse from a German perspective of the D-Day. Feel free to share it.
@@VoicesofHistoryI knew a small business owner here in NY. His father was in Wermacht. He said he was just a regular guy who just wanted to raise a family.
Will stay in my heart forever ♥️
Thank you Andrea!!
Larry your work is so historically;important people will be watching and learning from your work for generations. Years from now folks will see you and have tremendous respect for you and what you’ve accomplished. I hope that the appreciation for you and your work is acknowledged while you’re alive and healthy and are able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Brother you are a national treasure. ❤️🇺🇸😇
Alvin, this is probably one of the best comments I’ve ever received. Thank you for understanding things from my perspective. I aptly titled my documentary series, “LEST THEY BE FORGOTTEN!” If we don’t remember, we will forget. My greatest fear is that I will be forgotten.
@@VoicesofHistory you WILL be remembered fondly for generations my friend 😇.
It is amazing to me that this channel only has roughly 58 thousand subscribers. To me if one forgets the past the future is paved for tyrants. Peace out love y’all. Thank you for posting these.
Wallace, I completely agree with your comment. If we don’t remember from our history, we are condemned to repeat it!! Please feel free to share this video. Thank you and God bless you!!
I would think there would be more as well, as the number of veterans stories we have personally sponsored total almost 600k views in less than 10 months. Thanks to Larry for being a good steward and teacher. Thanks for all of these gentle heroes.
Ty brother welcome home
must be hard for a German to speak with an American about this topic. He did well, very interesting.
Thank you, Daniel for watching and for your comment. Please feel free to share this video.

Thank you Joe for watching.
Thank you for sharing. Incredible story!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks for sharing Franz 's story, his side, his fears. All of the combatants have made us who we are.
This is a rare look from a German soldier's perspective of a day in history which changed the course of the war, the world, and will live on forever!!
@@VoicesofHistoryLarry. I love your channel and interviews. I can't get enough of the history of wars that america has been in. The soldiers view points sometimes heartbreaking sometimes make the hair on my arms stand up with pride. As the saying goes "those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it". Or as your saying. "Lest we forget" Thank for doing your part to bring the real life stories of these heros (to me they are) out for everyone to see, hear and hopefully TRY to understand what they went through. Alot, still, live it even though it has been years since they experienced it. Those are the stories that bring tears to my eyes. I never served our country and ashamed that i didn't. I try to do my best to support and honor their service. God Bless our soldiers
Larry thank you for putting this on. I have been waiting to hear this man.😊
Ed, it is time to share Franz's story. We've heard from the Americans, Brits, and Canadians. Now a keen and insightful perspective from the German side.
Thanks again Larry; just made my day.
Yes sir Alvin, glad to hear it. Such a gem of a story.

We have an issue with bluejays and mocking birds attacking the babies
Great information!! We’re learning more about them because we have several nests and feel so sad when they don’t make it….😢… looking for education videos to be good pigeon grandparents
6th 31st infantry 9th division out of Dong Tam . Went there April 1 68 left April 2 68 to get use to the heat. Never seen the camp again but my foot locker showed up in Quin Nahn empty. I remember (1) hot meal while I was in the Delta from April 1 through December 31 1968.
Thank you Gary. God bless you!!
hello from rocky mid-coast Maine. I was hatched in Winnipeg in 1952.
It was unfortunate that all he could think of to say was how he and his friend were told they would be getting all the p@@sy. Not true and not funny. It appears that every now and then you end up interviewing a bona-fide "MacNamara Moron" . There were a lot of morons cleared for duty by allowing those with an IQ in the 70s to qualify as MacNamara's Morons. The strict cut off had always been an IQ of 82 but they were desperate for new recruits.
I was an 11bravo with the 9th div 4th of 39th infantry in 68 and 69. Spent time on the troop ships and mobile riverine force until the 9th's div Dong Tam base was completed. I can relate to everything he said, especially the comments about the grunts being used as bait to initiate contact with the VC and NVA units. There were hard core NVA units operating in the Mecong Delta. Tuff ass enemy soldiers that we had the misfortune of encountering several times. Lost some damned good men who will live in my memory until the day I die.
John thanks for watching Chuck's story. Would enjoy hearing your story someday.
True courage. Always thinking of others. From your Brother in the hospital to the new guys, you thought of others first. That's a Hero. God Bless you Sgt. Bollenbacher and thank you for your courageous service.
Thank you for your comment.
This man’s story is something else. They made a movie starring Ricky Schroeder.about a navy soldier in ww2. But not this fine man
What an awesome guy
Just the most emotional, heart rending, gut punch Vietnam veteran interview I’ve ever seen. And I’ve seen and read a lot these guy’s stories. But there’s something about John……..he’s just 100% genuine and unassuming. I hate like hell that he’s passed away, I would have loved to have met him. Thanks for your Vietnam service buddy.
Rodney, an incredible comment!! Thank you so much. John was a remarkable man and I am deeply sorrowful that he is gone also. We could've done much together. I do feature his many combat photos throughout my series of films and interviews.
Napalm... Not too many of our guys got it. Really wow.. dropping napalm on their own people.
To rock a building of that magnitude, that impact had to be horrific.
I really wish our country respected the freedom they enjoy everyday. Thanks to our veterans!
Well said Robert!!
GOD BLESS YOU SIR! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. MAY THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SHINE HIS EVERLASTING LOVE UPON YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
Thank you for your prayer. God bless you!!
She said that their four gurney at the 93rd on the cliffs in chu Lai, but she did not mention that on each of the gurneys they had a hook.hanging on the hook was a disston hand saw sixteeth per inch used for ripping wood!!!!

…”all for freedom .” Now look at what we’ve got. Those men were certainly NOT suckers and losers!
I was a pilot in Vietnam. Up to this point, this is the best interview I have seen. I believe everything he said, and I am impressed with his humility.
It was chuck berry who invented rock and roll
God bless you Larry. Godspeed!❤
God bless you,Sir!❤
I could tell from the beginning that CWO Rob Buss was more at peace and cheerful than most veterans appearing on Voices of History. His testimony of how he came to faith in Jesus Christ explains this.
Thank you Michael I agree.
“ I only lost my sense of smell. So I thought that was pretty good “. What a positive individual this is. Thanks for what you did for our nation Sir
War has no good place. There are wounds beyond war..
Great Video, Thank you for your service. Welcome back home 🏡
Thank you for your contribution. I was signed up for the draft in 73', I moved out of my parent's house in 74' at age 18. My neighbor was a vet serving in 1968/69 in the army. He would come over and drink beer with us. The more beer the more stories.

God Bless 🇺🇸

Thank you Ed! We love and respect you!!
I admire these soldiers so much. We could not ask to be more blessed than to have men like Sgt. Woods to represent our nation... ourselves. God bless you Sgt. Woods, and welcome home.
Blessings my friend. Thank you for caring for these Veterans.
